Welcome August!
The season is flying by. But there’s plenty more warm days ahead to make the most of life on Nantucket. And there are endless opportunities still available to create those memorable summer experiences. The ones we wait for all year long. From long beach days and fishing trips to museum visits and time on the farm, no doubt, there’s something for everyone who comes to visit our amazing island this month. To get you started on that August itinerary, here are our top 5 things to do this month!
#1: Attend the Boston Pops on Nantucket

We’re starting at the top with the Boston Pops! Yes, it’s true, after being canceled for two years, the 25th Annual Boston Pops on Nantucket is coming to Jetties Beach on August 16th. The Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra is joined by award-winning singer Marc Martel, for a very special evening of Queen. Brought to you by the Nantucket Cottage Hospital, as their biggest fundraiser of the year, this concert is one NOT one to be missed. General Admission gates open at 4:30 pm and the concert kicks off at 7pm. Head to their website for info, event details and ticket pricing.
#2: “Pick your Own” Veggies at Bartlett’s Farm

Looking to get out on the farm this month? Then our #2 “pick” is for you. No Nantucket summer is complete without a visit to Bartlett’s Farm. The Bartlett’s Farm market, which works to support suppliers and purveyors, is filled with fresh produce, artisanal products, handcrafted sandwiches and beverages perfect for a long day at the beach or a hike. But to really get a feel for what Bartlett’s Farm is all about we recommend taking one of their farm tours. We love the Pick you Own Veggies Hayride tour taking place on Mondays throughout the month of August. We recommend booking ahead through the Bartlett's Farm website.
#3: Make Tuesday Night Burger Night

So if a tasty burger is more your thing then you don’t want to miss Island Kitchen’s Tuesday Burger Night. Every Tuesday from 5:30-8pm in the Sconset Casino parking lot, the Island Kitchen food truck will be serving up burgers and more (try a lobster roll or IK ice cream sandwiches too!) Be sure to check out their Instagram for details.
#4: Sail in or Cheer on during Nantucket Race Week.

Beginning August 13th through the 21st, Nantucket Community Sailing will host their annual Nantucket Race Week. This always-memorable nine-day event will take place across the Harbor and in the Sound featuring regattas such as Radio Controlled Model Boats, Youth 420 & Optis, Alerion & Women’s classes, Kiteboarding and more. The fun will conclude on the 21st at the Opera House Cup Awards Party on Jetties Beach. All levels are welcome to participate. Don’t feel like sailing? Then come by to cheer on the sailors. Head to the NCS website for a list of events and how you can participate.
#5: Take a stroll through the farmers market

Our list would not be complete without a visit to Sustainable Nantucket’s farmers market! Located downtown (on Cambridge & North Union Streets) every Saturday morning from 8:30-12:30, the market includes locally grown and created produce as well as a wide variety of artisanal items. The market also features live music from Chris Hanson from 10:30am-12:30pm. Head here to check out the market map.
