Tuckernuck is a special, separate island off the Nothwest end of Madaket. Sparsely populated with seasonal homes, properties on this spit of sand are rarely sold outside family hands. Most owners have had the properties within their families for generations and plan on keeping it that way. Homes must be self sustaining as there are no public utilities available. Boating over to the beaches is pretty common place amongst those looking to get away from it all, but pull up a good distance from any homes to avoid crowding. With so much open wild space on this island there are a plethora of birds and native species to enjoy.
