Polpis

Polpis is the largest areas of Nantucket encompassing all Polpis Road addresses, all of the Altar Rock and Moors area, and almost everything from the beginning of Polpis Road to Quidnet/Sconset. Homes in this area vary from small to very large. Lots tend to be larger and more spread out from their neighbors. Privacy and space is valued in this area. Many homes on the southern side of Polpis road will have views of or abut the vast open space known as The Moors and Altar Rock.

• Polpis Road at Sesachacha Pond is 7.5 miles to Town
• The Polpis Road bike path is a beautifully lush, winding path that seems to go on forever. It's a wonderful place to ride bikes, jog, take the dog for a walk, or just stroll along. Scenic vistas from Harbor views to cranberry bogs to ponds and Sankaty light. Break it up over a few days if you can't do it all in one day.
• The Middle Moors, owned mostly by Nantucket Conservation Foundation, consists of 3,220 acres of protected open space. The wild plains, grasslands, ponds and serengeti are special views to behold. You will find people driving, running, walking, dog walking and even horse riding throughout these trails. Be sure to take your SUV or 4WD vehicle out there as the puddles can get deep and the sand can be soft.
• Check out the Land Bank's and Conservation properties pages to find a plethora of hidden gems throughout the polpis area. Some are trails, some are waterfront, some are swamp lands, but all are beautiful. Many you may not see another person at during your whole visit!
