Squam

Squam rests between Quidnet and Wauwinet and is most definitely a private oasis in this sparsely populated, rustic community. The Nantucket Conservation Foundation owns a vast amount of wetland forest in this area. On both sides of the main dirt road, Squam Road, you will notice a large amount of oak trees and beautiful landscapes. Full of magnificent panoramic views and secluded beaches, this area is the true definition of an untouched, hidden gem.

• Squam Swamp features lush forest and wetlands with walking trails over the wooded terrain and rustic bridges. This area is full of wildlife, birds and vegetation you won't see anywhere else on island. Keep the dogs on a leash to avoid a muddy friend in the car ride home. The uneven terrain may not be well suited for those with mobility challenges.
• Squam Farm consists of 210 acres with a 1.5 mile trail over dirt roads and paths. Owned by Nantucket Conservation, this property often is home to animals and research on indigenous plants and vegetation. Check out NCF's website for events and activities held throughout the year at the farm.
• The Wauwinet Hotel and it's award winning restaurant, Toppers, is also a quick jaunt for a scrumputous meal and sunset cocktails.
• Sesachacha Pond provides a quiet spot to rest by the shores, kayak, or put a little sailboat in the water.
