Shawkemo Hills Trail, located off Polpis Road near North Pasture Lane, features several paths that let visitors explore the island’s glacial valley. Walking or hiking on these paths provides stunning views of Nantucket Harbor and the island’s moors from the top of Shawkemo Hill. Visitors can also explore the sandy paths that make up the Middle Moors and look for arrowheads that date back thousands of years.

Visitors can enter Squam Farm off Quident Road or go through the Squam Swamp entrance off Wauwinet Road and explore the walking trails that connect these properties. The swamp features one looping trail that measures roughly one mile, while the farm has a few trails. Please note that staying on the trails is important to avoid getting lost.

The trail also provides easy access to the island’s eastern moors and Windswept Cranberry Bog. Stump Pond Trail has hilly terrain that offers scenic views of a gentle brook and tupelo trees, as well as more dramatic hilltop views of the surrounding area.
