Nantucket, how do we love thee? Let us count the ways. There are clambakes on Straight Wharf and pearl garden parties, and quaint shingled cottages that seem to grown gardens on them. Lighthouses, craft beer, fresh seafood, and ice cream make the list, too. But that only begins to describe the depth, breadth, and height of our love of Nantucket.

1. Two words: beautiful beaches. From wild, wind-swept dunes to the sheltered North Shore strands, the Grey Lady’s beaches are impressionist paintings of golden sands and blue skies.

2. The shopping is as chic on Nantucket as Fifth Avenue. Do you need a new pair of Jimmy Choos? The island’s famous cobblestone streets are lined with independent stores including David Chase, CJ Laing, and Ladybird Lingerie.

3. Dining is an art form on Nantucket. From country-club haute cuisine to laid-back clapboard fish shacks, the island’s restaurant scene is worthy of a Michelin star.

4. Location, location, location. Nantucket is only 35 miles off the coast of Cape Cod, but the island’s wide-open green spaces make it feel like another world. It's a nature and bird lover's paradise.

5. Nantucket makes you move. Nantucket is bike-friendly if you want to go green in your Nantucket reds. And fishing, sailing, and golf are the island's triple crown of outdoor activities.

6. One-of-a-kind traditions and events. Nantucket has more unique traditions than it has limericks, and that’s saying something. Popular events include the Daffodil Festival and the Moby-Dick marathon reading.

7. Starry, starry nights. You've never seen a summer night sky until you've seen one from Nantucket. Our island is one of the best places on the East Coast for seeing stars. Is that the Milky Way?

8. Locally-sourced food. Whether its fresh fish, oysters, vegetables, or fruit, Nantucket "thinks local first" with its locally-based food economy.

9. The tranquility is turned up all the way. The island's quietness and solitude, magnified by the way the sun shimmers on the Atlantic Ocean, is enough to turn even the busiest tourist into a Transcendentalist.
