With pristine beaches, scenic views, and a wide range of activities, Nantucket is a perfect summer destination—and our
Nantucket vacation rentals provide an ideal base for an experience that rejuvenates and revitalizes every member of the family. We’ve put together these suggestions for five activities to add your Nantucket itinerary.

Breakfast in Town
Begin the day with breakfast in
Town, where you’ll find a paradise of food options from island-roasted coffee to a full-blown brunch. Two places to try are Fog Island Café at 7 South Water Street and Black-Eyed Susan’s just two blocks away at 10 India Street. Fog Island Café offers breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, omelettes, and an extraordinary selection of egg benedicts. Black-Eyed Susan’s serves up eggs and omelettes with hash browns, cheese grits, or black-eye peas, plus pancakes, French toast, eggs benedict, and huevo rancheros.
A Day at the Beach
With 82 miles of shoreline, Nantucket has a beach with your name on it. Paved bikepaths make public beaches easy to reach from your
Nantucket rental house. The beaches facing Nantucket Sound on the North Shore tend to have calmer waves. The Eastern Shore and South Shore face the Atlantic Ocean, so beaches there will have stronger surf. Most public beaches have lifeguards and many provide restrooms, outdoor showers, and food service.
An Afternoon at the Spa
Reserve an afternoon of relaxation at an island day spa. Here are three to consider. Darya Salon & Spa offers six types of massage plus a menu of facials at its Town location at 34 Centre Street. RJ Miller Salon and Spa offers facials and massages at 6 Amelia Drive. Authentic Body Therapy specializes in therapeutic orthopedic massage, including sports massage and Thai massage, at their office on 35 Old South Road.
An Evening at the Theatre
Nothing replicates the power of live theatre, and Nantucket is fortunate to have two excellent theatre companies. Theatre Workshop of Nantucket has been staging productions since 1956. Its current season includes
The Odd Couple, Venus in Fur, Annie Get Your Gun, and
The Full Monty. Founded in New York and operating in Nantucket since 2012, the White Heron Theatre Company is a professional Equity organization with a current season that includes Steve Martin’s
The Underpants, The Velocity of Autumn by Eric Coble, and
Annpurna by Sharr White.
A Night Under the Stars
The Loines Observatory at 59 Milk Street Extension hosts public stargazing nights from 9 PM to 10:30 PM Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays until Labor Day. The view through the telescope on clear skies is well worth the $10 admission price for nonmembers and takes place weather permitting.
